Welcome to the June edition of the RegenWA newsletter and the Noongar season of Makuru - the time where we see the colder weather and rainiest time of year 🌨️🌱. It has been pleasing to hear that there has been some much-needed rain recently. 

In this newsletter we share some news articles from the RegenWA and PerthNRM team and some exciting upcoming events and opportunities in the regenerative agriculture space.

Substantial investment needed for dry climate

Collective Impact Workshop #2 - “The Rubber Hits the Road”

The second of four collective impact workshops as a part of the Restoration Impact Framework project was held on Wednesday 6th March at The Hub, Bentley Technology Park. The twenty-seven invitees from diverse key stakeholder groups participated in discussions facilitated by Impact Seed and Perth NRM. The workshop included; 

  • Co-developing a theory of change and discussing shared outcomes for each of our key stakeholder groups.
  • Discussing priority actions to realise a shared vision.
  • Discussing a longer-term investment pitch.

The Restoration Impact Framework project is funded by Lotterywest and Commonland with collective impact workshops delivered by Impact Seed and coordinated by Perth NRM.

Heavenly hectares: empowering small landholders to adopt sustainable practices

RegenWA and their event partners recently held a workshop in Kalamunda titled 'Heavenly Hectares' facilitated by Chris Ferreira. The workshop aimed to empower small landholders to adopt sustainable land management practices. Read more here.

 

SAF Conference Fosters Connections over Innovation and Drivers in Agriculture

Perth NRM's Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator (SAF), Tibby Tuckett, attended the recent SAF Conference in Canberra. The conference was a great opportunity to connect with others in the agriculture community. Read more here.

DPIRD 2024 Dry Season Resources

DPIRD has established a 2024 dry season website and hotline for farmers to access a variety of resources on seasonal management, funding and more to help support them through the 2024 dry season. Access the resources here. 

 

SCU Grain Grower survey 

Grain farmers’ perceptions of regenerative agriculture  is the focus of a survey led by Southern Cross Uni. The survey has the support of the GRDC as part of their project Regenerative Agriculture: Understanding the intent, practices, benefits and disbenefits. Complete the survey here. 

 

Talkin' After Hours podcast 

Lower Blackwood LCDC created Talkin’ After Hours to give the farming community the opportunity to have conversations, share knowledge, skills & practices in a no stress, no judgement, easy access space – any time & anywhere. Find out more and join here. 

 

GGA Dry season response outreach 

GGA is partnering with the WA governments dry season response program. You can view the five-part plan here. Farmers, grower groups, consultants, etc, can submit a local situation update to relay to the Dry Season Response Taskforce here.
