NEWS UPDATE

11 November 2022

Publishers note

This week came the news that XPO Exhibitions have announced they are acquiring the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show from long-time owner Auckland Water Ski Club.

The New Zealand Boat Show is steeped in history having commenced back in 1956, when it was first held as part of the 1956 Easter Show.

The team at XPO are quality operators with a big portfolio of events, many award winning, across numerous industries. Congratulations and best wishes to XPO MD Brett Spillane and his entire team.

Congratulations are also in order for Mary Papantoniou who celebrated 25 years with the BIAV late last month. Mary has been at the heart of the Association for a long time, and her commitment to the industry and BIAV members is testament to her popularity.

Still in Victoria, members and exhibitors gathered to celebrate the 60th Melbourne Boat Show. The audience enjoyed tales and images from years gone by, from previous presidents, CEOs, boat show organisers, stalwart exhibitors, and general industry characters.

To coincide with the event, Peter Rhodes has produced an excellent mini-doco looking back over the years. A must watch. You can find a link to the production at the end of the story.

Just like last week, this week has been a busy news week and we urge you look at the many more stories on our website for many more stories not seen in this newsletter as well as links to resources, photo libraries, reviews, our international industry events calendar, and our jobs board.
