MARINE BUSINESS NEWS

NEWS UPDATE

13 June 2025

Publishers note

It’s been a busy week across the industry with plenty of news and developments to track. A special mention must go to a number of individuals recognised in this week’s King’s Birthday Honours. Congratulations to Andrew Chapman, Alex Barrell, Lance Miller and Steve Raymond — as well as all others acknowledged — for their well-deserved recognition.

One interesting item to come through our newsroom was a report from the team at Ray White Marine. Their economists and analysts have been busy compiling a snapshot of the local market. The report touches on “Australia’s obsession with luxe homes with big price tags” and follows through with a deeper dive into the “Australian marine industry: key trends and market insights.”

As for me, I do try to keep up with the pace of tech — but just when I start to feel confident, something new emerges to remind me I’ve still got plenty to learn. This week, SailGP launched its most immersive fan experience yet: the Tabletop iOS Viewer at Home. Now available in the SailGP app, the new feature transforms any flat surface into a live, interactive SailGP racecourse using augmented reality. I’m going to give it a try — but to avoid complete humiliation, I’ll be enlisting the help of my kids to make sure I get it working!

I do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
