As it’s the first week of the end of the year, there’s a bit to run through including (more) elections, award nominations, and of course there's something big coming this weekend... 👀

It’s almost time for the big one…

The teams are training, the battlefields are being set up, but are you guys ready… for Roses 2025! 

This weekend, on 2nd – 4th May, Lancaster University athletes will be packing up their bags and heading to our competitors home turf to discover what colour roses really are (red, duh.) 

If it’s your first year at Lancs and you haven’t got a clue what we’re on about, or if you want to know all the good stuff to prepare for the big weekend, you can catch up on all things Roses below.

Roses Live is your place for all things Roses – from the comfort of your own bed. Catch up on your favourite fixtures with live commentary, recordings, updates, and point counts provided entirely by York and Lancaster’s Student Media teams. 
 

Notice of Summer Elections 2025 🗳️

We are excited to announce upcoming elections for two Student Trustee positions, as well as a by-election for the 2025/26 Education Officer. 

Nominations for all positions open on Monday 5th May, so if you think you’re up for it, get writing up that manifesto!

The Liberation & Campaign Officer Review 🔎

Your current Wellbeing Officer, Ella, has been working closely with the LCOs and their respective forums to look at the structures and support these groups receive. It has led to a much-needed review of these structures. 

‘The effective advocacy of marginalised voices is crucial in today’s society, especially at a time when oppression persists and threatens to grow.’

Do you know an Academic Rep who has made a positive impact this year? 

Make sure to nominate them for an Academic Rep Award! 

Our Academic Reps play an integral role in improving student experiences through their department, whether it be providing feedback, raising issues, and more. So, it’s only right we celebrate them!

Free Sexual Health Testing 

Did you know that our very own LUSU Advice Service is partnered with Revolution, who provide their Sexual Health Outreach Service to students here on campus? 

The Sexual Health Testing Drop-In Clinic occurs on the first Wednesday of every month, during term time. You can pop in for sexual health info, advice, or testing with our friendly, non-judgemental nurse. 

Your Week 22 Sport Fix ⚽️

Did you know that all your Sports clubs are overseen and facilitated by us here at LUSU? Well, now you do!

A trip to ECOTown ♻️

Have you ever wondered where the bin van goes after it’s collected your kerbside bins? What happens to all that recycling and rubbish?
