ILLUMINATE NORTHBROOK IS TOMORROW!

Bundle up and join us in the Northbrook Downtown on Friday, November 21, for a festive kickoff to the holiday season! Starting at 5:30pm at Shermer and Meadow Road, enjoy free hot chocolate, a popcorn truck, holiday music, and fun 3D glasses. The Rotary Club will also collect new or gently used coats for its “Coat Off Your Back” drive. Anyone who donates will receive a free collectible mug, while supplies last. Plus, grab a coupon, courtesy of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, to get a 10% discount at participating local businesses from November 21-26. Then, at 6pm, gather for the countdown to Northbrook’s magical holiday lights!

 

Village of Northbrook Strategic Plan: Online Participation Extended to December 19

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, the Village is providing additional time to the community to participate online in the Village’s first-ever Strategic Plan. Please take time to fill out the online survey and share your vision and ideas for the future of Northbrook through December 19.

DON'T FORGET: REGISTER FOR THE WATERSMART PORTAL!

The Village’s contractor for the Automated Water Meter Project and Village staff will host WaterSmart Customer Portal Open Houses in the Village Hall Board Room on:

  • Tuesday, December 2 from 2-3 pm
  • Wednesday, December 3 from 2:30-3:30 pm
  • Thursday, December 11 from 6-7 pm

Sessions will cover how to register, key portal features, and ways to customize WaterSmart to fit your needs. Attendees are encouraged to register for the portal in advance or bring their account number, along with a smartphone, tablet, or laptop for on-site setup assistance.

125th Anniversary Celebration
Apply to be a Member of the Commission
Northbrook is getting ready to mark a major milestone in 2026 - 125 years! As the Village begins planning for this historic celebration, we’re inviting passionate, creative, and community-minded residents to apply for one of the resident or corporate positions on the Ad Hoc 125th Anniversary Celebration Commission. Commission members will help support planning, coordination, publicity, and fundraising of this once-in-a-generation celebration. Illuminate Northbrook

Gather in the heart of Northbrook to kick off the holiday shopping season with complimentary hot chocolate as we turn on the holiday lights and illuminate downtown Northbrook. Don’t forget to bring your gently used coats as a donation to the Rotary Club of Northbrook’s annual "Coat Off Your Back" collection drive which provides winter coats for infants, children, teens, and adults via multiple outlets serving people in need. Anyone who donates a coat at the Rotary Hot Cocoa Tent will receive a commemorative Illuminate mug from the Village while supplies last. Stay downtown and enjoy the ambiance, and support local businesses by shopping and dining! 

 

Thanksgiving Holiday Closures
📅Thursday, November 27 & Friday, November 28
Village offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27 & Friday, November 28 in observance of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Day garbage collection will be delayed by one day for Thursday and Friday service. Monday through Wednesday collection will remain on schedule.

 

Holiday Craft Fair | Northbrook Park District

The Northbrook Park District's Holiday Craft Fair welcomes all creative people to sell their new and homemade items, giving shoppers a chance to find unique gifts. Toys for Tots and Coat Off Your Back Drives
📅Now through mid-December
The Village of Northbrook is collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program to help bring holiday cheer to children in need. Donations can be dropped off at Village Hall, the Police Department, or Fire Station 11 through December 11. We’re also supporting the Rotary Club of Northbrook’s Coat Off Your Back Drive, collecting winter coats for adults and children at the Northbrook Public Library, Village Hall, and Sunset Foods through December 15.

Sign-Up for Emergency Notifications

The Village uses Northbrook Notify to send voice, text and/or email messages to businesses and residents during local emergencies. Northbrook Notify messages pertain to time-sensitive, common-interest issues such as emergency street closures, police activity, or weather-related warnings. These messages supplement other communication modes and public safety/first responder services.

Northbrook Electrical Aggregation Program

Since 2009, Illinois law has allowed municipalities to arrange electricity supply for residents and small businesses through alternative suppliers, a process called electricity load aggregation. The Village currently partners with MC Squared Energy Services, while ComEd continues to deliver electricity and handle billing and outages. Some participants may receive notices from ComEd or MC Squared about their electricity supply. These apply only to certain accounts. Participation is optional.
