School Spotlight: Long-Time Success Teacher Matthew Ramey Looks Back at the Start of His GFSF Program

River Springs Charter School teacher, Matthew Ramey, spoke with Academic Innovations staff this month to discuss the impact of the Career Choices curriculum and used an example of student motivation to explain how it sets students apart.

“When we first started in 15-16, Dain Blanton asked, ‘Who knows what they want to do after high school?’ At that point the freshmen were the only ones that had taken it. So, most of them raised their hand, and it got less and less as the students got older. I've always felt that's been one of the good things that the program does. It really takes the students from the mindset of, 'I am just a student right now, and that's it.'”

River Springs High School has won multiple Career Choices medals and continues to utilize the curriculum at the highest level.
