MARINE BUSINESS NEWS

NEWS UPDATE

6 October 2023

Publishers note

With the football season over (for some of the codes) and the long weekend behind us for many around Australia, boating will undoubtedly become a greater focus for many. Along with this, there is a heightened emphasis on boating safety. As you receive this email, National Safe Boating Week is coming to an end. The website offers limited information but states its focus is on "Lifejackets and their effectiveness in saving lives by promoting the following steps: a) Lifejackets—Wearing, Self-Checking, and Servicing by Accredited Agents, and b) Being Able to Raise the Alarm - Carrying a Distress Beacon."

Locally, we are also hearing news of a boating blitz by maritime authorities checking for compliance. This is nothing new; it happens often. What is pleasing is that the number of boaters who comply with regulations is far greater than those who don't. However, this doesn't mean we should be complacent. We all have a responsibility to look after our friends and family on the water and take the time to educate our clients so they can do the same.

This week’s news covers a wide range of subjects, from marina purchases to coronial findings, industry awards, new partnerships, and new product releases, among other topics. I hope you enjoy the stories in the newsletter, as well as many more on our website.
