No images? Click here Hello artists and creative practitioners… The end of the year is here! And what a year it's been. Slowly, slowly we emerge back out into the world. Congratulations to the Northern Suburbs Artist Collective for a successful and ambitious Open Studios program. Thank you for creating such fabulous program of free exhibitions, workshops and events in October. If you would like to know more about this group, click below Image: Light After the Dark, Lei Cui (Detail) CoW Art Award While we are celebrating successes, congratulations also to the Annual Art Exhibition prize winners. If you haven't already - do pop into the Great Hall at Civic Center to have a look at this year's work, or if you can't make it in person - pop onto the online gallery. At the Capow Catch up held on October, those who attend requested 2- 3 physical gatherings a year - so we are planning to begin 2023 with an in-person gathering on Thursday 12 January - TBC - mark it in your diary's now and we will send more details soon!

Another initiative that came from this meeting was the establishment of a private facebook group for CAPOW members to share information, promote each other’s events and openings, show video and images of artworks etc. It's up to you to make this a useful space for all. Please join and share and participate on the page. The Whittlesea Community Festival is being held on the third weekend in March 2023 on Saturday 17 and 18 Sunday March 19. This exciting community day will be filled with art, music, entertainment, sustainability, drama, performances and installations. As with every year, volunteers, creatives and performers make the event the creative, community showcase that is so loved by our friends, neighbors and community organisations. To assist in running the festival, we are looking for volunteers to help us set up art installations for the event, both on the day and in the days prior to the festival. Volunteer positions are also available across the festival including stage management, event set-up and pack down and providing information to our community. If you are interested in any of these roles, please email events@whittlesea.vic.gov. There will also be opportunities for a small number of paid art demonstration activities and for stage and roving entertainment. The Festival and Events team are looking for a small number of interactive arts activities to cater for both adults and children. These will be paid activations; all artists will require vaccination and would ideally be ‘self-contained.’ Activities do not need to be for the entire duration, smaller one- or two-hour demonstrations or workshops will be considered. The festival will also be operating a number of stages for the day and are looking for local musicians including roving acts. All musical acts must have their own ABN, require vaccination and should provide examples of previous performances. If you interested in conducting a demonstration, workshop, come and try activity or lesson, or to be considered for the entertainment program, please contact James Vincent, Festivals and Events Officer, at james.vincent@whittlesea.vic.gov.au. We wish you a safe and abundant, creative holiday season and look forward to seeing you on Thursday 12 of January! Kind regards Cheers, CAPOW You are receiving this email because you are a member of a Creative Arts Practitioners of Whittlesea (CAPOW) network of local artists.
