Micheal Kelly (TSPCN Chair) continues to enjoy his summer break, so it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Network for the beginning of 2025!  I hope everyone had the chance to experience some down time and connect with people close to them.

March is a busy month for connection, with Neighbour Day celebrated on the last Sunday in March.  Neighbour Day is the National Day of Action as part of the year-round Neighbours Every Day campaign. This campaign encourages people across all communities to connect to increase belonging and reduce loneliness. Recognising the importance of social connections and the difference neighbourly actions can make to someone’s life.   Neighbours Every Day and Healthy Tasmania are again offering community grants of up to $1500 to host neighbourly activities.  2024 funded activities included picnics, BBQs, fun days, community gardens and many other activities designed to bring community members together and create connection and belonging.  Please visit the Relationships Australia Tasmania website for more information, to apply for a community grant, or view more of the 2024 activities.

The team are currently working on the 20th Annual LiFE Awards to be held in Launceston on the 12 March 2025. These awards acknowledge and celebrate the great work happening in suicide prevention across Tasmania. The Awards are followed by the Suicide Prevention Forum, which is always an inspirational day of connection and learning.  To purchase a ticket for the forum and/or host a trade table during the event please head to the Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Website: Suicide Prevention Forum | Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network. More information on this below.

If you have content for the newsletter, ideas about speakers for meetings or know of a community who might be interested in developing a Community Action Plan, we’d love to hear from you.

Looking forward to connecting with TSPCN members throughout the year and seeing you at the next TSPCN meeting on 12 February from 1pm – 3pm in Devonport.
