Successful Inaugural UAE Healthy Kidney 5K in Miami Raises Tens of Thousands for the National Kidney Foundation of Florida
Basketball Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning, local elected leaders and UAE officials recently came together to support the inaugural UAE Healthy Kidney 5K in Miami, which Miami Mayor Francis Suarez described as a day “full of energy, community spirit and a powerful cause.”
All proceeds from the race supported the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, and the organization’s work to promote kidney health, research and critical programs for those impacted by kidney disease.
The race honored the UAE’s founder and first President, the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a kidney transplant recipient.
MBZ-SAT Successfully Launched from California
MBZ-SAT, the Middle East region's most advanced observation satellite, successfully launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California last month, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Named after the UAE’s President, HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, MBZ-SAT was fully developed by Emirati engineers at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, with 90% of its components manufactured by Emirati companies.
The advanced satellite will transmit highly detailed images back to Earth, providing a crucial resource for disaster preparedness and infrastructure management.
