Top 10 of 2025 - Housing Advocacy
Dear TeamChild Community, During this holiday season, we are excited to share our top 10 moments of the year. Our next highlight is our Housing Advocacy. Housing law for young people differs from traditional landlord-tenant law as most minors are unable to sign leases. Addressing youth housing instability involves establishing legal pathways for stability: assisting extended family or trusted adults in becoming legal guardians, supporting emancipation so older youth can access housing independently, ensuring behavioral health and other support services to keep families together, and connecting youth with shelters and social services. In certain situations, it also entails requesting state intervention to meet the needs of youth lacking a capable parent. This year, TeamChild initiated minor guardianships, dependency actions, and emancipations while offering informal advocacy for numerous young individuals to facilitate their access to safe, stable housing and supportive adults. Our ability to carry out this vital work relies on your support. We encourage you to consider giving a donation that will enable TeamChild to persist in advocating for the rights of young people in Washington. We look forward to having you follow along as we continue counting down our top 10 moments of 2025! Thank you, TeamChild Board and Staff If you are interested in learning more about how you can support the work of TeamChild, please respond to this email or call 206.322.2444. |
