Sunday Edition
Happy Sunday to each and every one of you! Thank you for choosing to spend your morning with us – it means the world! The new year rush is over and, here at the SDC, we’re taking a moment to breathe and catch our breaths for the year ahead. We have lots in store for you and can’t wait to continue growing and giving you more of what you love.
Now, it wouldn’t be a Sunday without a quote of the week, now would it? While Maddie is enjoying some well-deserved time off, I (April) hope I’ve picked a quote up to her standards.
‘In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.’
Isn’t it lovely? Every year, every day and every minute we have is an opportunity to live our lives to the fullest. It would be a shame to waste it doing something that made you unhappy, eh? Something to think about while you have your morning cuppa.
Now, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?

Today’s submission comes from the Facebook group ‘Australia Remember When’!
‘We used to race home after church on Sundays to read the comics in the children’s pages of the local paper. I remember “Ginger Meggs” (with his nemesis Tiger Kelly) was on the front page. We also had “The Potts” with Uncle Dick, “Nancy and Sluggo”, “Blondie” with husband Dagwood and The Saint. There was also Radish the Racehorse. The Thoroughbred Racing History Association says Radish was as well-known in the '50s as Phar Lap, even though he was only ever a comic character. The popular comic strip was syndicated around Australia and featured in such newspapers as the Sydney Sun-Herald and Brisbane’s Sunday Mail. Who remembers Radish?’

Ferry Cross the Mersey
Check out this great image from @dragabagalong along with a fascinating backstory. ‘Back in 1965 a British band by the name of "Gerry and the Pacemakers" had a worldwide hit with the song, "Ferry Cross the Mersey". The Ferry is a public transport vehicle that crosses the Mersey River in Liverpool England. This is the modern-day version of that ferry. Maybe some members can remember the song.’
Do you remember? You can let @dragabagalong know here!

An old man goes to confession.
He tells the priest that on Friday night, he’d been in the bar when he met a young woman.
‘Maybe 22,’ he says. ‘A gorgeous blonde. I started lusting, Father.’
‘Yes,’ says the priest, ‘Lust is a dangerous sin.’
‘There’s more’...
