NEWS UPDATE20 February 2026 Publishers noteWe are all human and we stumble occasionally. Last month I said we were looking forward to the Gippsland Boat Show “next week”, when I meant next month. It happens. In fact, the Gippsland Boat Show really is on next week, from 28 February to 1 March. From what I’m seeing, the BIAV team has done a solid job, not only bringing a strong array of boating to the region but also aligning the show with three complementary events: the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, the Bream Cup, and the Raymond Island Car & Bike Show. Kudos to the team. It’s one I’m having a little FOMO about. I can’t make it this time (time-sensitive projects are consuming me), but I’ll share more on that another day. Also next weekend, SailGP hits Sydney Harbour (28 February and 1 March). Waterway restrictions will be in place from Friday 27th February until Sunday 1st March. The Exclusion Zone will restrict a large area of the eastern part of Sydney Harbour, from between Bradleys Head, Clark Island and Point Piper, across Rose Bay, and between Chowder Head and Steele Point. Still on SailGP, after last weekend’s round in Auckland, Australia and Great Britain are tied at the head of the leaderboard. It was a dramatic weekend; with day one cut short following a catastrophic collision between home-team Black Foils and Team France. Two athletes were taken to hospital in stable condition, and all other crew members were cleared of injuries. You can get all the info about exclusion zones, plus see the video of the crash, on Marine Business News. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
