In 1930, engineers managed to rotate a 7-storey, 11,000-tonne building without disrupting its operations. They lifted the building with hydraulic jacks and then used hydraulic rollers to move it at 40 cm per hour. The project took 34 days to complete, and occupants reported not feeling the movement at all.
