Gangs Policy Briefing

The Centre for Social Justice Gangs Working Group discuss policy proposals for tackling Britain's growing gang problem. A comprehensive analysis of the nature of gang culture and a presentation of short, medium and long-term policy proposals for its reversal.

GANGS WORKING GROUP TO PUBLISH REPORT 12 FEBRUARY 2009

INNER CITY CHALLENGE LUNCH
Iain Duncan Smith hosted a buffet lunch for 20 MPs on 21 January 2009 asking them to take up the Inner City Challenge. Stephen Hammond, Nick Hurd, Andrew Selous and James Brokenshire MP reported on their placements in poverty fighting projects also taken up by Douglas Carswell, David Burrowes and Shailesh Vara who attended.

Julian Brazier, David Curry, Mark Field, Christopher Fraser, Edward Garnier, Greg Hands, Maria Miller, Lee Scott, Robert Syms and Daniel Kawczynski were invited to take up a 4-day placement in a British poverty fighting project.

PRISON REFORM WORKING GROUP IN WASHINGTON DC
Jonathan Aitken, Chairman of the Prison Reform Working Group, is in Washington DC this week. The principle aim of the trip is to gather international comparisons on rehabilitative approaches. Jonathan Aitken will meet with project workers from Singapore, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand and the US who work with Prison Fellowship International to discover what is effective in reducing reoffending rates in different contexts.

Jonathan Aitken also attended the National Prayer Breakfast with President Obama.

IAIN DUNCAN SMITH ON BBC POLITICS SHOW
