Nominations for the 2022 Australian Sailing Awards are now open, with the annual event set to recognise clubs and members for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the sailing community over the past year.

New Minister of BIA Victoria – Sonya Kilkenny

In Victoria, the weekend’s reshuffle at 1 Spring St has seen the appointment of Sonya Kilkenny as the Minister for Boating and Fishing in the Victorian state government. The Boating Industry Association of Victoria say they welcome Sonya to the portfolio, and congratulates her on the promotion into this ministerial position.

Marine Rescue Crews in major search and rescue exercise

Marine Rescue specialists from the Illawarra and South Coast took to the water off Ulladulla on Saturday to search for a fishing boat missing at sea as part of a major capability exercise. The search is the focus of a two-day regional Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) designed to test agencies’ marine search and rescue practices and coordination.
