$500 Million Golden State Pathways Offers Opportunities to Empower More Students
California’s Golden State Pathways Program designates $500 million in investments designed to support college and career readiness for ALL students to ensure that California thrives economically and socially. This program presents an unprecedented opportunity to empower more students to access postsecondary education.

Teacher Spotlight: Carol Keiser and Wheatland Union High School
Carol Keiser has been the Director of Career and Technical Education & College Readiness as well as Business Teacher and Get Focused Stay Focused Lead at Wheatland Union High School for over four years. In that time, Wheatland Union has been awarded four Career Choices Gold Medals.
Keiser has been a Certified Trainer and Mentor Teacher for the Career Choices series since 2019 and says “It’s all about helping teenagers figure out how to live a happy life, and it’s neat to watch them evolve.”
Early in her time teaching the Career Choices series, Keiser went through My10yearPlan.com alongside her students and recognized from that experience that she wanted to further her own education to help her career advance. She returned to school to obtain her masters in education.
“I think becoming transparent with your own goals and showing students that you have your own struggles with some of these choices and finding opportunities is a great way to ease their anxiety,” Keiser said. “The fact that these adults who are supposed to have it all together have these questions brings a sense of confidence to these students. They’re in the right spot.”
According to Great Schools, Wheatland places higher than the California State Average in SAT and ACT college readiness, and has a graduation rate 7% higher than the state average.
