I invite you to join me and the Senior Leadership Team as we kick off “Performance Excellence: Everybody, Every Day” with several informative meetings open to all staff.

The meetings will take place in Brazos Pavilion Conference Center on the dates listed below. Please arrive up to 15 minutes early to check-in with your badge.

How Have You Spent Your DEI Personal Day?

Dr. Marc Boom announced last year that all eligible Houston Methodist employees would be able to use the special Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Personal Day to celebrate days that are special to them and other members of their faith, race, nationality or anything else that makes them unique. In January 2022, it was expanded to be used for any reason and in combination with another PTO request.

Examples of when you might use this personal day include: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Eid-al-Fitr; Juneteenth; Rosh Hashanah; Veterans Day or International Day of Persons with Disabilities, just to name a few. However, employees can use the day at any time and for any reason just as they would PTO. For more details, see HR Policy 71.

Update Your Information in MARS

We are a more than a month into the Atlantic Hurricane Season. If a storm or other severe weather threatens the Houston area, we may need to communicate important information to you in a timely manner. Please be sure your contact information is up-to-date in MARS to be sure you receive all text and communication announcements.

Scavenger Hunt Winners

The winners of the newsletter scavenger hunt recently received their special prizes. Weekly winners won a unique cup that allows you to scan a QR code to easily access the Employee E-Newsletter. The grand prize winner won an HMSL swag bag, along with the cup. Thanks to all who played.

Webinar on Mental Health for Teens and College Students

Care.com is offering a webinar on July 12 at 11 a.m. for parents of teens and college students called "The Kids Are Not All Right." It will cover how to recognize signs of social anxiety, depression and isolation and how to get support for your children. You can register here.
