CSJ IN THE NEWS: THE CSJ PUBLISHES OPTIONS PAPER ON TAX CREDIT CHANGES

The CSJ published an Options Paper on tax credit changes this week. This short paper sets out the options open to the Chancellor as he considers changes ahead of the Autumn Statement in three weeks’ time.

The CSJ Options Paper was covered extensively in the media and provides the Chancellor with four possible options for changes to his tax credit proposals. The report also calls on the Chancellor to protect work incentives within the welfare system.

The formative early school years are key to determining the life chances of a child born into poverty. Getting education right in our poorest areas is a clear path out of poverty. Get it wrong, and educational failure can perpetuate a life of disadvantage. Earlier in the week the Education Secretary announced several key recommendations first announced by the CSJ in our 2014 report Closing the Divide.

On Sunday, the Marriage Foundation, published research revealing that 60 per cent of married couples who go on to divorce are happy with their relationships just a year before their split.  Ahead of the Autumn Statement the CSJ is calling for tried-and-tested relationship and parenting support in areas that need them most.
