Friday Edition
Good Morning members! How are we all feeling? Got that Friday fever? We sure do! As many of you know, here at the SDC we like to think of Friday as POETS day (and we don’t mean as a celebration of Shakespeare or Emily Dickinson and the like). For those that aren't aware, POETS stands for P*** Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday. The term was introduced to us by one of our very own members, and we think it has quite an eventful ring to it, don’t you agree? Not that we ever want to leave the office early on a Friday, members 😉
Now, first things first, let’s give you lot the riddle for today shall we?
Believe you me, I’m honour bound
Think upon my rhyme profound
What do you think perchance it be
I swear to keep, once given thee?
Sounds like some sort of spell or incantation don’t you think? How mysterious! A big thanks to Suzi H. for sharing this riddle with us. So if you take a look into the crystal ball and spot an answer to this puzzle, head over to the forum and post the answer here. If you happen to submit the right one, well then we might (or absolutely will) shout you out in tomorrow's newsletter! Do we have a deal?
So then, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?
-
Have you been using the pedestal fans at home, hoping for at least some reprieve from the dreaded summer heat? Turns out you might be using them all wrong…
-
You all know how much we love ALDI here at the SDC. So it’s important we let you know all about the latest scam targeting shoppers of the supermarket giant.
-
How good’s a steak sanga? It’s just such a shame that they can be so bloody expensive to make, right? Maybe they don’t have to be! Try this $5 Coles steak sandwich hack!
-
One single mum has jumped online to show off her crazy Kmart and Bonds jackpot, leaving people absolutely gobsmacked!
-
A charity store has mistakenly sold a customer's forgotten $1,081 Balencia handbag, after she left in a rush to pick up her children.
-
A teacher has shared a hack for cooking the perfect poached egg in mere seconds, and surprise surprise, she does it in the microwave!
-
Kmart’s new Down Syndrome inclusive doll has been heavily mocked on TikTok, sparking outrage in the online community.
-
Picture this: you’re out at the pub for lunch, and all of a sudden a couple starts doing ‘the nasty’. Horrible right? Well this nightmare became a reality for one poor pub-goer…
-
The Australian government is literally ‘taking p*ss’, and reusing it to water and fertilise the plants in the parks of one major city. Genius or too far?
-
And finally, the Duchess of Cambridge has replaced Prince Harry in his ah, Rugby role… And yes she’s even in the England Rugby
uniform!
And that’s a wrap of the news for today! But don’t go anywhere just yet, as we have some absolutely smashing stuff for you to dive right into. Today’s picture of the day for instance is a breathtaking photo, brought to us by the fantastic @Algieboy. Cheers for this one @Algieboy.
Stay safe everyone, and happy reading!
- Jonathan, Vella, Sean, James, Dan & Maddie.

It seems that scammers will stop at nothing to get their hands on your hard earned money. Every year, new scams and methods to trick people into providing their details or sending money are conceived, causing issues for millions of people around the world every year. The latest scam comes in the form of a voucher from one of our favourite bargain supermarkets: ALDI.
Aldi has warned customers to be careful of a new privacy scam circulating on Facebook. The new scheme is being distributed through a fake Aldi Fans Facebook account in the form of a post promising customers the chance to snatch a $750 shopping voucher. Members, remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is a scam. So don't bother interacting with the post because it's intended to steal personal information and money.
