Americans are more concerned about drug use (46% worry a great deal) than they have been over the past three years…The increase is perhaps tied to higher rates of opioid drug overdose, particularly among teens, many tied to the drug fentanyl. “Recovery-friendly workplaces are vital to people living with SUD (substance use disorder), and employees in recovery are vital to thriving business,” Ben Garthwaite, CEO of Fors Marsh said in a statement. There’s no industry or sector without employees who are dealing with problems related to their alcohol use, have a family member or loved one who is struggling, or possibly both. Individuals with substance use disorders need stable employment to continue their path to recovery, and a supportive workplace can improve their well-being and performance. The stress of the pandemic added incredible challenges for frontline healthcare workers – a population that already has increased access to controlled substances, putting them at higher risk for substance abuse.
