Click here 5 December 2023 Western Australian agrifood export eNewsDPIRD helping boost WA agrifood exportsThe Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) has organised and supported a large number of outbound and inbound trade delegations this year, providing WA agribusiness exporters with opportunities to showcase their premium products, forge valuable connections with potential buyers, and gain crucial insights into key markets. Additionally, DPIRD also empowered agrifood exporters through capability building initiatives, encompassing: market access support, representing WA priorities under free trade agreements, research analysis and market research presented at market insights webinars / sessions, agrifood exporter roundtables, pitch development workshops, meet the buyer webinars, and through the Western Australian Dairy Industry Working Group (WADIWG) planning to achieve sustainable development goals within the dairy industry supply chain. WA agrifood exports reached a record $16.2 billion in 2022-23. Primary Industries Trade Manager Nathalie Brooks said DPIRD has been working closely with local food and beverage businesses, championing the finest WA has to offer globally, in support of strong growth. "Over the past year, DPIRD has facilitated the participation of over 100 WA agrifood businesses in overseas trade delegations and inbound missions," she said. "These activities allow WA agribusinesses to glean invaluable insights into market trends, consumer preferences, and regulatory requirements, empowering them to tailor their products and strategies for international success." However, mixed economic results coupled with increasing geopolitical tensions make the near-term outlook highly uncertain. Year-on-year trade growth is likely to be strong in the fourth quarter this year, due to the reduced amount of trade in the same period last year as high energy prices, rising interest rates and pandemic-related disruptions weighed on economic growth in leading economies.
