Sunday Edition

Good morning

Ah yes, Sunday has come around yet again and we couldn’t be happier about it. There’s just nothing quite like a Sunday, is there? So grab your favourite cup of coffee or tea (a cappuccino is encouraged, but not compulsory) grab a seat on the lounge (or stay laying in bed, we won’t judge) and enjoy the newsletter, because members we have one hell of a line up for you today…

So what did happen in the news this week?

  • This week, Coles, Woolies, Aldi, and IGA gave us some amazing deals, including Arnott’s Tim Tam Chocolate Biscuits, Sunrise Brown Rice Chips, Patties Party Pies, and some Christmas decorations.
  • Kmart announced a big change coming to stores before Christmas, which will undoubtedly be very popular before the festive season.
  • Amazing! A young bargain hunter revealed how she scored a $40 scotch fillet for less than $2 at her local Woolies. Here’s how you can snatch it too.
  • New and exciting apparel was released in Coles stores following an influx of requests from customers around the nation.
  • “They’re SO good.” Shoppers drooled over this Aldi $3.99 air fryer snack, which they claim was restaurant quality.
  • Coles and Woolworths swept the board at the 2022 Product of the Year awards. Here's a look at some of the products that made the cut this year.
  • This week, we were also made aware of a new scam in the form of an email purporting to be from Service NSW. Here's how to avoid falling victim to the ruse.
  • We witnessed a customer’s jaw-dropping checkout act that left an Aldi shopper gobsmacked.
  • We also saw how a Woolworths customer almost swallowed a ‘dangerous’ discovery in a popular bakery buy that left her in shock.
  • McDonald’s launched its popular money-saving deal, which will be available every day throughout November. Excited fans already came up with a hack for claiming more than one of the deals per day! Click here to check out the deals.
  • “Go-to-piece”: Savvy shoppers across Australia rushed to get their hands on this $25 dress at Kmart, with the garment now completely sold out online but still available in store.
  • And finally, Choice named and shamed Australia’s worst products of 2021, including a food ‘recycler’, a pointless $2000 appliance, and a ‘shonky’ sugar bomb.

Honestly, we are still wrapping our heads around the fact it is the month of November in the year 2021 so trying to wrap our heads around all the news this week feels like a lot. Who else is feeling a bit “Wow, it’s almost December?” That’s just time though, isn’t it? Just bloody flies by.

Anywho, enough with the Sunday rants from us! We have a great trivia question today, it’s actually really hard and if anyone actually knows which is the heaviest Australian bird, we will be seriously impressed. We also have a great Yesterday’s Australia segment that we highly recommend you check out.

Coles and Woolworths warn of rising prices as we head into Christmas

Woolies and Coles

Source: The New Daily

Supermarkets warned us this week that grocery prices would rise as we head into Christmas. According to Coles CEO Steven Cain, the COVID-19 health restrictions forced thousands of workers to isolate themselves. At the same time, a shortage of wooden pallets made it harder to distribute products, pushing the costs of filling supermarket shelves.

Mr Cain’s comments came a day after Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci predicted grocery prices to rise modestly over the next three to six months. However, the Reserve Bank of Australia isn’t worried about the skyrocketing costs.

Read on to find out which products are affected by inflation and why the Reserve Bank is not yet worried about this.
