Thursday Edition
Good morning, members, and welcome to another lovely Thursday. How are you all doing this morning? We hope you are all well and enjoying your day so far. I (Vella) am currently enjoying a lovely cuppa, as I do most mornings. I love starting my day off with a hot cuppa and some biscuits. It just feels so comforting, you know? What about you, members? What’s your favourite way to start off your day?
Anyway, enough about me and my cuppa. Here at the SDC, we’re always looking for new and interesting things to share with all of you, and we think you will love today’s lineup. So without further ado, let’s get started, shall we?
First things first, it’s time to give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. For those of you who don’t remember, the riddle goes:
What has wheels and flies but is not an aircraft?
The answer, of course, is a garbage truck! We also accepted 'wheelie bin' as an answer! That was a clever one, eh? Did you get it correct? If you did, be sure to stick around because you'll find a shoutout waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next on the agenda for today, it’s time to share with you a Fascinating Fact!
Did you know your small intestine is longer than your height? It’s true! The small intestine folds to fit in the abdomen, but if it were straightened out, it would be about 5.5 metres long, or roughly three times the average person's height! If you think that is impressive, the large intestine is only about 1.5 metres long! Just imagine how long it takes food to pass through your digestive system! How’s that for a fascinating fact?
Now then, members, what’s happening in Australia and around the world in the news today?

For today's 'Yesterday's Australia' segment, we have a lovely memory from @Mindygirl12022. 'For me, the most precious memory is our Christmas Holidays at a fibro house on the beach at Tugun. We slept in the room facing the beach where Dad would put the pine Christmas tree. At night the smell of the pine tree mixed with the sounds of the salty air of the surf as it pounded on the sand was priceless.'
This is such a beautiful memory! I can imagine the smell of the pine tree and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. It sounds like a perfect way to spend the holidays! Thank you for sharing this special memory with us, @Mindygirl12022!
