Saturday Edition
Good morning, members! And happy Saturday! It’s so lovely to have you all here on a Saturday. We feel so honoured that you choose to spend your Saturday mornings with us (and every other morning for that matter). What are you getting up to this weekend? Anything exciting? Or maybe, you’re just having a relaxing one at home, and honestly, there’s nothing better. I (Maddie) am very excited because I am off to Melbourne to see the Australian Open (AO) for the first time in my life! I’m only going to watch a few games today because I didn’t want to take any time away from work, but I couldn’t say no to the opportunity when my dear friend asked me if I wanted to come along. I’ve always been a big tennis fan and every year I catch myself saying ‘I’ll go see the AO in person next year’ but I never get around to it… Until now! It’s one to tick off my bucket list, that’s for sure and I can’t wait
to tell you all about it. I’ll try my best to get a few pictures for you all to share on the forum!
Speaking of bucket lists, I’d love to know something that is or was on yours. Tell me in this forum thread here. I am so interested to hear what everyone has to say! Now, enough about tennis and bucket lists. It’s time to give you the answer to yesterday’s riddle. Here’s a friendly reminder of what it was:
I only have two backbones and thousands of ribs. What am I?
We made this one more challenging on purpose because too many of you were making this riddle masters business look too easy! Now the answer is… a railroad or train tracks! For those of you who got this answer correct give yourself a pat on the back! That one was a tough one. As always, we also have a shout-out waiting for all of you riddle masters at the end of this newsletter, congratulations!
Now, it’s Saturday so you know what that means? It’s time to teach you lot (and myself) some Grandkids slang with our ‘What Would the Grandkids Say’ segment. Today we’re taking a look at the term ‘wavy’. The word ‘wavy’ is often used by kids today as an adjective to describe something cool, stylish or trendy. It can also be used to describe someone fashionable or good-looking. For example, if your grandchild got a new haircut, you could say it looks ‘wavy’. Or, if they get a good result on an exam, you can tell them they’re ‘wavy’ for doing well. So, next time you talk to your grandkids, why don’t you slip in this word and see how they react? 😉
And one last thing before we take a look at today’s news, we of course have today’s ALDI Special Buys. Be sure to check them out, because there are a few goodies on sale today!
Now, what’s happening across the world and around Australia today?

Last week I asked you all to tell me about your first job and if the job still exists and I have absolutely loved reading all of your stories! So I thought, you would love reading them too. This story was shared by member @Earth child and it had me laughing. Here’s what member @Earth child shared with us, ‘I was the telex machine operator and sent citrus formulations and other detailed communications to sunkist in California. I also operated a flick-switch telephone switchboard transferring all incoming calls as there was no direct dial. Last but not least I was the ‘tea’ girl delivering the managers their morning tea from a trolley. Made the mistake of heating their
cups with boiling water first and placing the saucer on top so their tea arrived hot which meant they continued to want my service when it should have been handed to the next newcomer.’
Haha! My goodness, they always say to do the best job you can, but it seems like you did a little too good, @Earth child!
