Your volunteers work hard to fulfill your organization’s mission and serve the community. But with many activities, there can be risks involved. Nonprofits should consider requiring volunteers to sign valid waivers of liability to protect the organization and to continue providing a structured opportunity for volunteers to serve the community. Prepare your organization and volunteers for success (and safety) with the guidelines in this article, which even includes a sample waiver.
A nonprofit’s website is often the first impression donors, participants and the community may get of the organization. So you want to make sure it is informative and engaging, and makes a positive impression. But in this era of copy-paste culture and easy sharing, how can you protect your nonprofit’s website's content and design code from unauthorized use? That's where copyright law comes into play. Copyrighting a website is a crucial step to safeguard your intellectual property, but it can be a complex and often misunderstood process. In this episode of the PBPA Podcast, Mike Hobbs with Troutman Pepper will unravel the intricacies of website copyright and will guide you through the
essential steps to protect your nonprofit’s website.

As a client of Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, you know we provide free legal assistance to community-based nonprofits that serve low-income or disadvantaged individuals. We match eligible organizations with volunteer attorneys from the leading corporations and law firms in Atlanta who can assist nonprofits with business law matters. We want to know what’s going on with you. Let us know if you are facing a legal problem or if you have a new project for us. Please don’t contact the volunteer from your last project – please contact your PBPA attorney. We love our volunteers, but all legal requests need to go through PBPA.
Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta always welcomes new legal matters from our clients.
If you have a legal matter that you need assistance with, please contact your PBPA attorney.
Please feel free to forward this email to other nonprofits who may be interested in our services.
