I am writing to provide a further update on the Warm Welcome Full Year scholarships. The allocations have been completed and all scholars should have been notified of their outcome. Successful scholars should have been informed by their universities, and we have notified unsuccessful scholars.
We recognise that some of you, and your friends or family members will have been disappointed not to secure a scholarship this time – perhaps because you hadn’t found a university to sponsor you, or perhaps because there were many applicants for those university places. We were really impressed by all the applications and want to thank you again for your interest in the scholarships, as well as congratulate those who have been awarded a scholarship.
We recognise the challenges which the tight timeline created. We are happy to confirm that there will be one further round of full scholarships for a January/February 2023 intake. The scholarships are only available for this academic year and there will not be a further application round for September 2023. There are no further applications for in-year scholarships.
We recognise that this will mainly benefit post-graduate scholars, though there are some universities who do a later undergraduate intake, and it will not be possible for all universities to accommodate this later start date, but we hope that some of you will be able to take advantage of this.
The other conditions will remain the same – both for eligibility and maximum course length, and the total cap of 300 scholarships. Universities have until the end of September to confirm whether or not they will participate and as soon as they do, the universities and a contact point there will be listed on our website to help guide your applications.
If there is a university which has offered you a place and might be able to delay that until a January/February start, or that you are really interested in, you can always share the website with them and ask if they would be willing to participate in the scholarship and sponsor you with a fee waiver.
The application form for scholars will be open from Monday 17th October until Sunday the 30th October. Please do not submit an application until you have at least one university who is able to support your application as we cannot process applications without an associated university sponsorship. Places will be awarded on the basis of the application scores; there is no advantage to applying early.
