NEWS UPDATE12 December 2025 Publishers noteI have been around boats for a long time, and throughout my years working boat shows and across the industry, there have been moments when a vessel has simply stopped me in my tracks. Sometimes it was the scale, often the beauty, and occasionally it was the feeling that this was a boat I’d aspire to own one day. Last night was one of those moments. The boat was big and certainly a thing of beauty. I had the privilege of attending the christening of the newly named Palm Beach XI (formerly Wild Oats XI) and found myself once again standing in quiet awe. What made the evening truly memorable was the address by Palm Beach Motor Yachts Founder and CEO Mark Richards. His remarks were sincere, generous, and delivered with a natural ease that quickly captured the room. He expressed genuine appreciation for everyone involved in the project and his past, his shipwrights, directors, shareholders, staff, the Oatley family, mentors, clients, and many others. It never felt like a list to be completed; it was heartfelt gratitude that resonated deeply. His humour, delivered entirely off the cuff, only strengthened his connection with the audience. At times very funny, always engaging, and throughout, you could hear a pin drop. Now with the boat still in the shed and some way to go, with components still arriving from overseas, Mark said that we should expect to see her on the water early next week. Keep an eye out. I have little doubt her beauty and technology will stop you in your tracks as well. As always, my selection of top stories leads this eNews, with the remainder grouped in the summaries below.
