Monday Edition
Well good morning members and happy Monday! Now as you’re probably aware, today is Valentine’s day, so I hope we’re all in a ‘lovey dovey’ mood. If you’re spending today with your partner, or loved ones, that's fantastic to hear and we hope you have the best day. Otherwise if you’re spending today alone, know that we are always here for a chat if you need us! Be sure to indulge in some self love and really pamper yourself, because you bloody deserve it. And don’t forget, we here at the SDC love each and every one of you!
Now before we get ourselves carried away (or is it too late?), let’s dig into today’s activities, starting with the first riddle for the week, and we’re sticking to the theme of ‘love’ today!
A doctor and a truck driver are in love with the same woman. The truck driver had to go on a week-long trip and gave the woman seven apples before he left. Why?
Maybe she just really likes apples? That’s it right? Yeah probably not. Oh well, if you have a better (or correct) answer, then head over to the riddle masters thread here and submit it! Those who crack it will be treated to a shoutout in tomorrow's newsie! We know, we know, we’re just too kind 😉
Now, what’s happening in Australia and around the world today?

Nobody likes washing dishes right? And if you're lucky enough to have a dishwasher, having to run it multiple times, and constantly pack and unpack it can be just as tedious. So what if there was a device that could reduce the number of times you need to run the dishwasher, by adding more storage space? Turns out, there is an item able to achieve it, despite not being designed for it, and only costing $10. To find out how it works, click the button below!

Compare Health Cover Now*
Three health insurance rate rises in the space of 18 months are what Aussies are being slapped with after a two year long global pandemic. Aussies were paying an average of $230.26 more for their health insurance after the 2021 price hikes. And now from 1 April 2022, a single person over the age of 65 will pay an additional average of about $75* more per year, with families paying an additional average of about $154* more per year.
What few people realise is that there are government rebates out there that could save you hundreds of dollars per year on your cover*. For eligible Aussies, the starting cost of a combined hospital & extras policy comes in at under $23 / week (or $3.22 per day) once the rebate has been claimed.
See if you're eligible for the latest government rebates to get health insurance from under $23 a week.

A prince was put under a spell so that he could speak only one word each year. If he didn’t speak for two years, the following year he could speak two words and so on.
One day, he fell in love with a beautiful lady. He refrained from speaking for two whole years so he could call her “my darling.”

Mr Potato Head, featured in the Toy Story films, was first advertised on television in 1952 after it was distributed by Hasbro, and made use of a real potato, as well as all the plastic parts! In our opinion, they looked a lot scarier than the plastic ones you can buy in stores today.
