“The strength of the team is each member. The strength of each member is the team.” Phil Jackson

I am thankful for the strong team of partners at MJKO, including the 14 Division Toronto Police Services, Kiwanis Toronto, local volunteers, my board, and my staff. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the recent Open House due to knee surgery on May 26th. However, I was not worried because MJKO has learned over the past decade that we can rely on our extended family, which is exactly what happened at the event.

I want to express my gratitude to our community partners and funders who generously supported the Open House, including Zabiha Halal, ParticipACTION Canada, Meridian Credit Union (King & Shaw), The Period Purse, Toronto Police Services 14 Division & the 14 Division Community Police Liaison Committee, Paula Lawlor, The Kindness Charity, and our landlord, St. Johns Polish National Catholic Cathedral.

Shout out to our VIP guests:
Arif Virani - Member of Parliament, Parkdale High-Park
Bhutila Karpoche - Member of Provincial Parliament- Parkdale High-Park
Jason Pretty, Meridian Credit Union (King & Shaw)
Superintendent Domenic Sinopoli - TPS 14
Inspector Scott Purches -TPS14
Staff Sergeant Israel Bernardo - TPS 14
Manual Rodrigues & Jamie Noskiewicz - The Boulevard Club

Huge thank you to Vasiliy Ryabykh for taking these incredible photos.

MISSION

MJKO is a youth charity with our center of operations in South Parkdale, Toronto.  We use leadership training to promote positive, healthy lifestyle choices for children and youth. With certified coaches, MJKO builds Community Champions by focusing on the needs of the whole person through two streams: non-contact (recreational), and contact boxing (competitive), which includes physical training (skipping, shadow boxing, defensive moves) and mental skills training (visualization and meditation). Our programs allow students to develop an appreciation for physical fitness, inclusive communities, mindfulness, healthy eating, and volunteerism.
