Saturday Edition
Good morning, members! Happy Saturday. We have some really exciting news to announce today. As a team, we have seen how much you are all struggling with the current cost of living, and we want to do something about it. We have decided to launch a Christmas Giveaway as a way for us to give back to you, our beloved members. All you have to do to go in the running to win one of our five $100 vouchers is sign up to our forum. If you already have a profile on our forum, then you’re already in the running, but if you haven’t made a profile on our forum, then simply make one to go in the running. It’s that easy! Please Note: Having a profile on our forum is entirely free.
We will choose 5 members at random to make it as fair as possible. That means it could be anyone on the forum! The long-time members, the newbies and everyone in between. The five $100 vouchers will be Mastercard or VISA vouchers, so you can use them anywhere, not just Coles, Woolies, Coles or IGA (unless you want to!) We also just want to clarify that this competition is in addition to the Christmas Competition we are currently running. You can still enter that competition by telling us about your favourite Christmas memories. We will announce the winners of both competitions on Tuesday, December 13th. So get in quick, members. We really hope this makes a difference.
Now that we’ve announced our news, let’s take a look at the answer to yesterday’s riddle. Shall we?
There is a clerk at the butcher shop, he is five feet ten inches tall, and he wears size 13 sneakers. What does he weigh?
And the answer is... meat! We know, we know, it's a bit of a dad joke. But we couldn't resist! We hope you got a good giggle out of this one. If you got it correct, you'll find a shout-out waiting for you at the bottom of this newsletter.
Now, onto our next segment for the day, 'What Would the Grandkids Say?' Today, we're taking a look at the word 'ate’. No, this doesn't mean someone ate something. This phrase is used to describe when someone does something well. It's another way to say, 'nailed it’. For example, if your grandkid aces a test, you could say ‘you ate that'. Try using this phrase next time your grandkids do something really impressive and let us know how they react!
Before we forget, check out today’s ALDI Special Buys. There are some really great deals on there, so don’t forget to browse them!
Okay, one more thing before we dive into the news, folks. Last Sunday, we heard your thoughts on whether the new generation still respects their elders. The results are in and 94.4% agreed that this respect has been largely lost. If you missed it, you can cast your vote and read the comments here. We have a brand new poll coming your way tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled!

Member @Helen Mary shared some wonderful childhood memories, and we can’t help but feature our favourite one in today’s newsletter. ‘Now this is about the toilet, a little wooden building up the back yard serviced by a large cylindrical container. We never called it such a grandiose name as “toilet” but was always referred to as the “dunny”. It was your fear and dread that, perchance, you should be sitting there one day when the man came to remove the container and replace it with the new one placing the old full one on his shoulder as he took it out to the truck in the street out the front.’ Read the rest of @Helen’s post in our nostalgia forum here.
What a glimpse into the past! We can’t help but laugh at the image of a young @Helen Mary sitting nervously on the toilet, hoping that the ‘dunny man’ doesn’t come while she’s doing her business. Oh, how times have changed! Thank you, @Helen, for sharing this memory with us.
