INTRODUCING THE
13th WEEC LEGACY PROJECT

A Legacy project to share a Noongar approach of building eco-literacy through the language of the land

Experience how language and land connect through the Eco-Literacy Through Language program — a unique initiative guided by Noongar Elder Aunty Carol Pettersen and tested in schools along the Gondwana Link.

Presented as a gift to 13th WEEC from students and Elders, this Legacy project invites delegates to explore stories shaped by Country. Limited printed copies will be available at the Congress, with opportunities for students to share insights across nations.

Rather than offering a carbon offset program, 13th WEEC delegates will contribute to a meaningful Legacy Project. This approach recognises the diverse ways delegates travel and consume resources during the Congress, making a one-size-fits-all offset scheme inequitable. The Legacy Project supports long-term environmental education initiatives that create lasting impact — a gift from all delegates to future generations.
