September, at the pbc!

A few new and exciting things are afoot here that we are proud to share with you all.

A semi permanent shade gazebo donated by our legendary neighbour Rob! We've all crossed our fingers for a good summer where I'm sure this will get good use.

An acknowledgement of country art work was recently installed and greets all who enter the pbc by local Wiradjuri artist Darren Charlwood. Our long time friend Andrew Lorien and our wonderful duty manager Rosie Whatmuff were the brains and driving force behind this installation at the pbc. We have had lots of conversations recently about our story and how we can continue to build community and honour our past at the same time and acknowledging our first nations peoples is part of that plan.

Thank you Rob, Rosie & Andrew for your generosity and contribution to the pbc.

You can find Darren Charlwood's art at @dcharlwoodart

Our 2nd 100 year photo!

A while back the beloved pbc crew & its neighbours got together to recreate the photo of the centenary opening of the greens.

At our 125th anniversary ball, Jason our treasurer and board member unveiled it and it now hangs proudly underneath its predecessor.

Captured by Lyndal Irons.

Spring Fair - Sunday the 18th, 12pm onwards.

After consulting the experts we've come up with a few categories for the homemade pickle comp.

Savoury, sweet and most original. With the last one being such a hit we need to think of our judges palettes and limit each competitor to 1 entry per category.

Happy pickling and we'll see you on the 18th!

Bar staff needed.

With Carl our general manager movin' on up and a busy summer looking likely, we are now on the hunt for some extra friendly, experienced bar staff who would enjoy the pbc as much as we do.

Tell these superstars to email Carl at manager@thepbc.org.au or just drop in and surprise him!

What's poppin off in our veggie patch this month!

Blooms!

One lonely lemon.

Our Figgy is starting to sprout!

Spinach for days.

A bumble bee enjoying the last of this giant sunflower.

Also mammoth leeks! Not like the woolies ones with barely a collar of white.. :)

The caterpillars love cabbage!

Onions!

Books books books!

"to be sung UNDERWATER '' by Tom McNeal is September's corner library highlight.

Dedicated to Laura and in memory of Bill Gerard.

Ann Packer writes: Smart, sexy, gorgeous and at times devastatingly sad - these words describe the woman at the heart of this wonderful novel almost as well as they do the book itself. This ravishing love story will envelop you for a few days and then linger for a long time thereafter'.

I'm of the mind that the mark of a great book is how long the characters live inside you after you've finished reading it. The way you think of them as if you know them and scenes that you've read become entrenched in your memories as if you've lived them.
