Tour of the Night Sky

The Elementary children went on their first field trip of the school year to the De Anza College Planetarium on September 29th. They viewed a featured full dome show, "Tour of the Night Sky". This corresponded to the solar system work that they had being doing in the classroom.

Stringing beads develops fine motor skills; builds a pincer grip; expands bilateral coordination and motor planning skills and helps the child learn concentration and patience.

Sandpaper numerals gives the child symbols for the numbers, provides them with a key to the world of written numbers and prepares them for writing numerals.

Rolling a Mat

Learning to unroll and roll a floor mat helps the child to learn control and coordination; focus; be purposeful and integrate their mind and body.

Sound Boxes: Pairing

The sound boxes teach the child auditory discrimination, development of the keenness of perception and prepares them for the bells.

 Elementary

 

Produce Sale

The Elementary class sold organic, pesticide-free squash, tomatoes, basil and snap peas. The produce was grown and harvested in the school garden by the children. The proceeds will be used for soil, compost, seeds and plants.

Checker Board

The checker board is used for short and long multiplication with hierarchies in the decimal system. The board helps children visualize and generate large numbers.

November 2023

Parent Education Evening

Silent Journey and Discovery will be held on Friday, November 3rd. This will be an early dismissal day and all children must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Feast 

The annual Thanksgiving feast will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd. This will be a minimum day and all children must be picked up by noon.

Parent-Child Holiday Luncheon 

The parent-child holiday luncheon for Primary and Elementary children will be held from Monday, November 27th through Friday, December 8th. 

Holidays

School will be closed on Friday, November 10th for Veterans Day.

School will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday.
