Bring Your Stuff, Meet Your Neighbors

The Lealman Community Market is getting bigger this month. On May 31, the market at Lealman Neighborhood Park will welcome both local vendors and community residents who want to set up and sell items from home. If you have been looking for a reason to clean out your closets, this is it.

Resident spots are just $5 and space is limited, so signing up early is the best way to guarantee your place. You can reserve your spot online or in person at the Lealman Exchange.

The market runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a live DJ keeping things going all day. Whether you are there to sell, shop, or just spend time with neighbors, there are plenty of reasons to come out.

A few things to keep in mind if you are planning to sell: this event is for used and second-hand household items only. Food items, new merchandise, and firearms, ammunition, or weapons of any kind are not permitted. We ask that you take what you bring with you when you leave; dumping is not permitted in the park.

Come ready to have a good time and leave with a little extra cash in your pocket.

Thank You to Our Community Market Partners

The Lealman Community Market would not be possible without the support of the organizations that believe in this neighborhood. We want to take a moment to recognize Florida Beverage Association, Duke Energy, and Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside for their continued partnership and investment in Lealman.

A special thank you goes to the participants in Habitat's homeownership program, whose volunteer support has been a consistent and meaningful part of what makes this market run. Their commitment to this community shows up every time.

We also want to extend a warm welcome to the newest Habitat homeowners joining the Lealman neighborhood. We are glad you are here, and we look forward to seeing you at the market.

Health Corner: Turbo Babies

Hundreds of families with babies and toddlers gathered at Great Explorations Children's Museum on May 2 for the first-ever Turbo Babies Baby Day Dash, an event designed to pair hands-on play with practical safety information for parents of children in their earliest years of development.

The event, hosted by the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County in recognition of National Baby Day, gave families free access to the museum's educational activities while connecting them with interactive stations covering some of the most urgent and preventable risks facing young children, including safe sleep practices, drowning prevention, early brain development, and navigating technology as a parent.

Drowning remains a leading cause of death among toddlers and the event coincided with Water Safety Awareness Month, giving added urgency to one of its central topics. Parents also received a free Turbo Babies Pit Crew bag stocked with brain-building materials and activities for use at home, learned about Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten registration, and signed up for Parent ProTech, an expert-backed video library focused on child safety in the digital age.

"JWB remains dedicated to investing in the healthy development of children from birth to three," said JWB Interim CEO Michael Mikurak. "Our first-ever Baby Day event is all about giving parents educational tools to help their little ones sleep safe, splash smart, and start strong. By supporting families during these critical early years, we are building a stronger future for our entire community."

The Baby Day Dash is an extension of JWB's Turbo Babies campaign, which takes its name from the rapid pace of development in children from birth to age three. The campaign focuses on encouraging early connections between caregivers and children, nurturing a baby's natural drive to learn, and reinforcing the role of parents as their child's first and most important teachers.

The Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County funds and advocates for programs and services that support the well-being of children and families across the county. More information about Turbo Babies is available at turbobabies.com.
