Dear Colleagues, As we move towards the close of an exciting year in AEC, I am pleased to share updates on recent milestones, opportunities, and upcoming projects that promise to shape the future of our field. First, I would like to congratulate the organisers and participants of the recent AEC Congress in Milan, a resounding success that brought us together to explore new ideas, innovations, and collaborations. The energy and enthusiasm in the sessions were inspiring, and the event proved to be a valuable platform for networking and exchanging knowledge. Following the results of the AEC Council Elections during the General Assembly, we welcome new Council members Jan Philipp Sprick and Gyula Fekete. We also thank Martin Prchal for his wonderful contribution as he concludes his time as Council member. AEC's very recent participation at the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) 100th Anniversary celebration marks an important moment in the history of higher music education in North America. This event not only honoured the incredible legacy of the NASM but also underscores the continued importance of international collaboration in higher music education. Finally, we send an enthusiastic reminder of the Call for Students for the project "Designing Voices for Our Lives," which will be featured at the World Expo Osaka 2025. This project aims to bring together diverse student voices to contribute to a global dialogue through music, creativity, and technology. It’s an incredible opportunity for young musicians to participate in a high-profile, internationally significant initiative and I hope AEC member institutions will be able to submit candidates. Best wishes, Deborah Kelleher - AEC President The AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly 2024 took place in Milan, Italy, gathering a record number of 492 participants from all over the world. The AEC General Assembly (GA) convened to make several key decisions, formally approve the AEC Strategy 2030 and elect two new members to the Council. Both the AEC Advocacy Workshop and the Discussion Group on Advocacy at the 2024 Annual Congress provided crucial insights into political decision-making and advocacy strategies. Mozarteum University Salzburg and AEC are inviting students from AEC member institutions to join "Designing Voices for Our Lives," a choir project for the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. The AEC-ECSA-EJN Mentorship Programme concluded its final phase at the AEC Annual Congress in Milan. A new programme for 2025-2028 will broaden its reach, continuing its mission to promote gender equality and non-binary visibility within the music sector. MusiQuE actively participated in the AEC Congress in Milan by organising a 2-day pre-congress workshop and one session during the event. The third Transnational Project Meeting of the HarMA HUB project, co-funded by the European Union, took place on 24 - 25 October in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Tallinn). The Erasmus Orchestra is looking for new members (selected instruments only) for the concerts taking place in 2025. AEC Gender Equality and Non-discrimination Mainstreaming Task Force concludes its works within the AEC – Empowering Artists as Makers in Society (ARTEMIS), focusing on the Safe & Brave sessions, held at all AEC events since 2023.
