G’day, our wonderful SDC members! I (Athena) hope you’re feeling splendid this Tuesday afternoon! This morning, I came across an interesting word: mondegreen (pronounced as MAAN-DUH-GREEN). It’s used to describe a word or phrase that’s misheard, often from a song or statement. One hilarious example is from a Rod Stewart song: ‘I wanna know, have you ever seen Lorraine?’What other mondegreens do you know? Share your favourites with us, and let’s enjoy some good laughs together!
Thought bikinis were a modern invention? Think again! Ancient Roman women rocked two-piece outfits long before they became beachwear staples. A stunning mosaic in Sicily shows the Bikini Girls dancing and exercising in garments that are thousands of years ahead of its time!
Impudicity
Immodesty. For example, ‘His impudicity shocked everyone at the church.’ Pronounced as IM-PYOO-DIS-IH-TEE.
Quote of the day
'Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.'
