Cold Weather Tips

BE PREPARED FOR THE WEATHER AHEAD!

Cold temperatures are expected in the days ahead, and now is a great time to prepare. Prolonged exposure to extreme cold can increase the risk of frostbite and hypothermia, especially for those spending time outdoors. Dressing in warm layers, covering exposed skin, and limiting time outside can help reduce these risks.

Cold weather can also affect homes and plumbing. Keeping indoor temperatures consistent, sealing drafts, and taking steps to protect pipes can help prevent frozen or burst pipes during colder conditions. If you plan to be away from home, keeping your thermostat set to at least 55 degrees can help protect your plumbing.

We also encourage residents to check in on neighbors, older adults, and others who may need extra support during cold weather.
