Spring is here—and with it comes an easy way to support our local environment: take may slow! Reducing how often you mow your lawn can make a big difference for pollinators like bees and butterflies? Scientists recommend mowing every two weeks instead of weekly during the early spring to allow wildflowers and early-blooming plants to grow. These blooms provide critical food sources for pollinators when they need it most. Interested in taking part? Let us know by emailing your address to sustainability@northbrook.il.us. Together, we can help keep Northbrook blooming and buzzing.

LET'S GO ALL-IN NORTHBROOK
The Village, through the franchise agreement with LRS, has launched its new All-In Composting Program that provides the opportunity for every LRS-serviced home to have a 35-gallon yellow-lidded compost cart - at no additional cost – to divert compostable material from landfills and turn it into nutrient-rich compost that enhances soil health. You’ll be able to combine yard waste and food scraps into a single bin for regular collection on Wednesdays, all year long.
