Finish Line FeelsTeam LUNGevity reflects on a spectacular end to a record-setting year!
Bank of America Chicago Marathon
October 12
We celebrated our largest team ever with 58 athletes raising more than $137,000, a new Chicago fundraising record! With a variety of race weekend activities including a happy hour, team lunch, and race day support, Team LUNGevity made the most of every moment, together. Shout-out to Frank Wannop for completing his 11th Bank of America Chicago Marathon with Team LUNGevity and Marie Bahno, a lung cancer survivor, for completing her third marathon post-diagnosis! Check out more photos here!
Irish Life Dublin Marathon
October 26
To mark the 10-year anniversary of her mom’s passing, Briana O’Brien ran her first marathon in Ireland – a place where her family’s roots run deep. Her mom, Kathy, was a five-time marathoner whose example taught Briana to dream big, be brave, and embrace life outside her comfort zone. Running with Team LUNGevity and her close friend Rebecca Coull made the accomplishment even more special, and together they raised nearly $2,500! Check out this highlight from Briana!
TCS New York City Marathon
November 2
Team LUNGevity hit another new fundraising record in New York with $245,000 raised! Our 43 athletes tackled 26.2 miles through all five boroughs, starting in Staten Island and ending in Central Park. Marathon weekend in New York is electrifying! We were thrilled to support our incredible team throughout the weekend, fueling up at a team brunch and encouraging them on the course with a much-needed boost near mile 19. Special shout-out to Maddi Carr for earning her sixth star! Check out more photos here!
Athens Marathon
November 9
In the birthplace of the marathon, dynamic duo Esther Savouré and Skye Robinson represented Team LUNGevity and their hometown of Quebec, racing side-by-side and raising more than $2,000 for lung cancer research!
Chi Town Turkey Trot 5K & 10K
November 27
Volunteers came together to help put on a successful event day, supporting LUNGevity as the official charity of the race, which raised over $3,595! From managing race morning registration to handing out medals and donuts post-race, LUNGevity friends and family generously gave time to give and support the community before their own Thanksgiving festivities.
In addition to our Official Charity Partner events, Team LUNGevity athletes represented us at numerous races this fall — from Washington, DC to Monterey, CA — as part of our B.Y.O.B. program. ⭐Steven Kaganove (Grand Rapids Marathon)
⭐Katie Vernuccio (Marine Corps Marathon)
⭐Jared Gelb (Enders YMCA Harrisburg Marathon)
⭐Abigail Darner (Monterey Bay Half Marathon) Want to learn more about our B.Y.O.B. program? Visit our website and watch for some exciting changes coming in January 2026!
Throughout this year, seven survivors rounded out our teams, each bringing a powerful story of strength and determination. Their courage not only motivated their teammates but also reminded us all why we come together - to honor and celebrate. 🩵 Reyshley Ann Ramos Márquez (Life Time Miami Marathon and Half) 🩵 Katie Gilmore (Schneider Electric Paris Marathon) 🩵 Lisa Zarov (Life Time Chicago Spring 10K) 🩵 Lauren Coye

I cannot put into words how much this weekend meant to me and my family 💙. In the world of lung cancer there's so much heaviness and this gave us something to cheer for! – Malia Mackey, Team LUNGevity athlete, 2025 TCS New York City Marathon finisher and lung cancer caregiver
