PCN Governance Refresh Bulletin

In January, we sent out an email regarding proposed changes to the governance of our Primary Care Network (PCN) in Kootenay Boundary.  As more information becomes available and changes to our current PCN model are considered, we are committed to keeping you updated through this regular PCN Governance Refresh Bulletin.

WHAT’S NEW?

Interior Region PCN Governance Refresh Engagement Session

On January 24th, FPSC co-chairs Dr. Sari Cooper (Doctors of BC) and Ted Patterson (MOH) hosted an information session for the interior region about proposed changes. The KB PCN was well represented with a fair share of Aboriginal, IH and KB Division partners in attendance.  In essence, their presentation summarized the key messages from the PCN Governance Refresh Summary document that was shared in our initial email communication. You can view their slides here.

The audience had many questions, ranging from timelines to hiring practices and staff structure to how decisions about changes will be made and how these changes will be funded. Questions were also raised about the changes to the governance structures and there was a strong call from Aboriginal communities for stronger engagement at all levels. Answers to most of these questions were not immediately available, but the PCN Governance Refresh Transition Working Group (TWG) has started its work to address and resolve these unknowns. The FPSC co-chairs indicated that a detailed Question & Answer document will be provided soon. We will share this as soon as it is available.

If you have any questions or considerations that you would like to share with us, please use this form. If you would like to get in touch with us directly, please email Julius Halaschek-Wiener, PCN co-lead for KB Division.
