Friday Edition
Hey there, members, and welcome to Friday! Wow, this week has been a wild ride. How has everyone’s week been? Ours has been busy, as always. That’s why we’re thankful for the weekend, right? It’s always nice to take some time out to relax and recharge. I (Vella) need it this weekend, that’s for sure. A soothing massage wouldn’t go amiss either. I need a deep tissue massage after the 30-minute surfing session I did last weekend. Yes, I can hear you all giggling from here. I know, I know, just 30 minutes, but I felt like I’d been beaten up by the waves! My partner filmed the surfing session, and I looked like a drowned rat. 😂 But it was still fun! What about you, members? What are your plans for the weekend?
Anyway, enough about me and my surfing adventures. Let’s move on to the third and final riddle for the week. This riddle is courtesy of member @Rest1953. It's a goodie, so put your thinking caps on!
My mates and I were inseparable until one by one, we were split. The teacher smacked me on the head, and now in the corner, I sit. What am I?
Now that's a tough one! We're excited to see how you all go with this. If you think you know the answer, head over to the riddle masters thread here. If you get the answer correct, we will give you a shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter!

For today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment, we have a fond childhood memory from our dear member @Alioops. ‘On holidays, our daily walk to the little shop at Beachmere was a real treat. We bought sweets from the jars and put them into little white paper bags. That was such a holiday treat for my sisters and me. Fishing for whiting may have just come first, though, after pumping out the yabbies on the mudflats. I would ask my little brother to come to pick them up.’
Awww, that sounds like such a wonderful childhood memory, @Alioops! Nothing beats the feeling of a holiday at the beach with your loved ones. Yabbie pumping, whiting fishing 🐟 and sweet treats. What a fun way to spend your holiday! Thank you for sharing this lovely memory with us.

The Hubbard Glacier
Oh my gosh, how incredible is this photo shared by @dragabagalong? They posted this photo in our photography forum with the caption, ‘Unfortunately, the only way to view these massive Alaskan glaciers is by cruise ship. However, there are 6,000 of them, so it takes a while. This is the Hubbard Glacier. It is 120 metres high, 10 kilometres wide and 122 kilometres long. It moves forward at the rate of two metres per day, so it always drops huge lumps into the ocean. It is actually getting larger. Only one ship at a time is allowed to
approach it, and only for a limited time.’
It’s amazing to think that it’s been slowly moving and growing. Fascinating, eh? Thank you for sharing this photo with us!
