Looking back on the year, we are proud of our efforts to safeguard critical state programs that prevent abuse and nurture child well-being.
ADVOCACY OVERVIEW - CALIFORNIA
- Boosted childcare and preschool capacity
- Secured longer-running early development programs
- Protected the family crisis intervention hotline
- Supported Foster Family Agencies dealing with rising costs
- Improved training to better connect families with supports
However, we are disheartened by actions at the federal level that will further destabilize our most vulnerable families.
ADVOCACY OVERVIEW - FEDERAL
- Massive reductions in Medicaid and children’s mental healthcare
- Bureaucratic red tape separating eligible families from benefits
- Damaging cutbacks to food assistance programs
