In order to pursue sustainable export success, businesses need to make careful decisions backed by detailed planning and market information. Building export capability for the long-term can help to ensure Western Australian businesses are adaptable and competitive overseas. To support WA agribusiness exporters in meeting this challenge, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is introducing the Pitch Deck Development Program. With the WA Government (through DPIRD) funding 50% of participation fees, this business capability development program is for current and potential WA food and beverage exporters. Source: DPIRD | Photo: Headway / Unsplash If you are an emerging small or medium enterprise (SME) in the Western Australian food and beverage manufacturing sector looking to grow or scale your business, then you should be taking part in ScaleUpWA 2023. ScaleUpWA 2023 is a purpose-built program to help SMEs create and capture value and establish market and funding connections. Held between June and August 2023, ScaleUpWA 2023 provides online and face to face sessions focusing on identifying new areas and opportunities for growth, crafting investment-attractive business structures, and building compelling pitches. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development will be offering co-funded support packages to enable SMEs to participate within the program. Successful applicants will receive support to cover 50% of the program fee. There are a maximum of five sponsorship opportunities available. You do not need to be located in the City of Canning to apply. Applications close 12 May 2022. More… Source and Image: City of Canning / DPIRD Flights from Australia increased 9.6% over the last month, but despite a 6% increase in wide-body flights over this period, they are still 6% lower than the same period in 2019, according to the latest Export Supply Chain Snapshot from Austrade. There have been varying degrees of flight recovery to Australia's key export markets. The strongest markets from pre-COVID to 2023 are India and Qatar, which sit at 275% and 137% respectively. South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Great Britain, and Taiwan are now all above or at 100%. In contrast, China and Hong Kong remain the lowest at 39% and 48% respectively. Melbourne airport has reached 95% recovery, while Sydney airport is operating at 89% of overall flights compared to pre-COVID. Perth and Brisbane are both at 81% and 71% respectively. Adelaide is the only airport which is operating more flights than pre-COVID, at 112%. The Export Supply Chain Service is an Austrade initiative to coordinate supply chain insights while connectivity to international markets remains volatile, capacity diminished and rates expensive.
