Interactive Technology and Innovation Roadmap releasedWe've released an interactive online version of its Decommissioning Innovation and Technology Roadmap, identifying key areas that would benefit from innovative approaches and new technologies for decommissioning oil and gas infrastructure in Australia. This interactive platform provides a user-friendly interface, enabling users to visually explore the identified technologies, innovations, and their potential impact on the decommissioning sector. Online Capability Index releasedWe've recently released as part of our Partner Portal, the CODA Capability Index. This open-access platform allows organisations to create profiles showcasing their specialisations and involvement in the decommissioning industry. By compiling a comprehensive list of companies operating within or providing services to the decommissioning sector, the Capability Index aims to foster connectivity and increase the visibility of these valuable capabilities on both local and global scales. Each profile includes a logo, brief description, contact details, and a list of capabilities, facilitating quick identification of potential collaborators or service providers. The Capability Index is accessible to all users, with extended features for CODA Partners, and has now been integrated into the public-facing website for increased exposure and collaboration opportunities. CODA joins SFI SWIPAWe're pleased to announce a new partnership with the Centre for Subsurface Well Integrity, Plugging and Abandonment (SWIPA), a Norwegian research centre at the global forefront of research on technologies and best practices for P&A. As the sole APAC headquartered member, we look to serve as a regional gateway to the research group’s expertise, strengthening our mission to connect innovators and build Australia’s decommissioning capabilities. As an active committee member, CODA has helped shape this year's SPE Decommissioning & Abandonment Symposium by advising on content and potential session chairing. Attending this key APAC event allows CODA to advocate for Australian interests, promoting collaboration and showcasing our industry's expertise to regional markets. NDRI (National Decommissioning Research Initiative) updateThe NDRI continues to do important research to better understand the impacts of decommissioning oil and gas structures on the Australian marine environment. Project updateDevelopment of Interim NORM and Hg Acceptance CriteriaThe NDRI project “Development of Interim NORM and Hg Acceptance Criteria” is well underway. This project aims to develop an assessment framework to inform decommissioning decision-making around residual NORM and mercury contamination in offshore oil and gas infrastructure. The framework is envisaged to outline the key risks these contaminants pose in the marine environment and types of assessments that can be undertaken to quantify those risks. If possible, the framework will be applied to develop interim screening values for NORM and mercury in infrastructure. These are a concentration value of NORM or mercury in infrastructure, below which no to minimal risk to the marine environment is expected. The project team is currently recruiting an independent advisory group that will ensure the framework is fit for purpose to meet regulatory needs and be informed by the best available science. NDRI at SPE SymposiumThe NDRI will be providing an update and sharing its latest findings at the SPE Symposium in Bali, 5-6 December. If you're at the event, join Program Director Renae Larsen at 'Technical Session 7: Quality data and plans to improve safety and environmental outcomes.' at 2 PM, 6 December.
