Our programLast week AP4D helped organise an Australia-Vietnam Track 1.5 Maritime Security Dialogue in Hanoi as part of the Blue Security Program. Many thanks to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam for hosting, to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Embassy colleagues for their ongoing support, and to the Vietnamese and Australian academic delegations for insightful discussions. Blue Security is a collaboration between La Trobe Asia, UNSW Canberra, the United States Studies Centre, UWA Defence and Security Institute and AP4D. AP4D recently launched a paper by Philipp Ivanov that identifies a whole-of-nation opportunity for Australia to redefine Asia literacy for the 21st century — integrating technology, demography and mobility together with education, advocacy and policy institutions. In addition to a fascinating panel discussion (which you can watch below) it was great to hear from Tim Watts MP, who took the opportunity to announce a new inquiry into Australia’s Asia capability.
