Goooood morning, members. Happy Sunday! I (Maddie) hope you’re all having a lovely morning! I haven’t had the opportunity to write one of our newsletters for quite some time, eh? That’s because I’ve been working on a lot of things behind the scenes for you, so be sure to watch this space closely because big things will be revealed soon… Speaking of ‘big’ things, have you had the chance to check out our new SDC Rewards offering? Jon, the team, and I put our blood, sweat and tears into this one (okay, maybe not blood), and we
are incredibly proud of it. I know $5.99 a month or $49 a year isn’t something all of you might be able to afford, so please do not feel pressured to sign up. We will ALWAYS keep everything we already offer free for all of our beautiful members.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. I’ve also ‘ummed’ and ‘ahhed’ about paying for a publication before—It’s so hard to do, isn’t it? It’s such a grudge purchase, I know. Some of you might spend $5 on a coffee here and there throughout the week and don’t think twice about it, but the reality is, where you spend your money has power, and we rarely think of it that way. That $5 you spend on a coffee? That’s supporting the local cafe owner’s family. That $10 you spend at the local fruit shop? That’s keeping that little business afloat. That $5.99 you spend on a publication like us? That keeps us going and growing so we can continue to deliver content that’s relevant to you, that you enjoy reading, the riddles and games that challenge your brain and everything in between. Sure, ‘the big guys’ have nicely printed newspapers probably do far better investigative journalism than we do, and break news as it happens. But us small folk? We
care. We are passionate about what we do, and we want to make the Seniors Discount Club a safe, interesting, and enjoyable place for every Australian over the age of 60 to enjoy. We care about what you have to say, we want to listen, and we always will. Regardless of whether you sign up for our SDC Rewards today or not, we are committed to doing this because we love it, and we care.
And on that note, I’ll stop my chatting and leave you lot with a quote from none other than the remarkable Maya Angelou. ‘When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.’
Now, let’s look at what happened across Australia and around the world this week:
