Thursday Edition
Good morning, members! Or Günaydın (guh-nahy-din) as they say in Turkey! Welcome to another wonderful Thursday. How are you all doing this morning? Today we want to start off by asking you all a question: Are you okay? It’s R U OK? day today, which means it’s a day dedicated to starting conversations about mental health and suicide prevention. It’s a day to check in with your friends and family and make sure they’re doing OK. Because sometimes, all it takes is a simple question to start a conversation that could save a life. So today, we encourage you all to ask someone R U OK? We have created a thread in our forum here where you can share any struggles, learn more about how to get involved, and truthfully answer, are YOU okay?
Now then, on to our regularly scheduled programming. We’ve been busy bees here at the SDC HQ, and we’ve got a lot of great things lined up for you today, so let’s get right to it, shall we? First up on the agenda, we have the answer to yesterday’s riddle for you. For those of you who don’t remember, the riddle goes:
How can a pocket be empty but have something in it?
And the answer is because it has a hole in it! Pretty clever, right? We love a good riddle here at the SDC. If you got this one correct, stick around, and you’ll find a shoutout waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next up, we have our Fascinating Fact of the day!

Today’s ’Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is brought to us by member @Valentine: ‘I can remember when our mum would bake scones, and nothing better than when they came out of the oven and spreading butter over them and a lovely freshly brewed pot of tea to wash it down. Mum had a gentleman’s agreement with our uncle, who repaired washing machines. Whenever ours broke down, he would come and repair it and require fresh scones with jam and cream and a cup of tea.’
This is such a lovely memory! The smell of fresh scones baking in the oven is definitely one that brings back happy memories for many of us. We’re sure that many of us have fond memories of eating scones with our families, and this is just one more example of how food can create lasting memories. Thank you, @Valentine, for sharing this with us!
