Invertebrates contribute many important ecological services which are essential for agriculture including pollination, nutrient cycling and pest control and they form an important element of natural capital on farms.Regenerative pasture - raised chicken and eggsLearn all about regenerative, pasture-raised chicken and egg production here in WA in this FREE webinar held on Thursday 8 February at 10am! We will hear from two WA farming business owners - Blythe Calnan from Runnymede Farm, and Sam and Steph Hondema from Rosa's Ridge. They will share their trials and tribulations experienced along their regenerative journey and answer your questions about starting a regenerative poultry and/or egg business! Review on the Global Application of Regenerative AgricultureJoin us for this free webinar, on Thursday 15 February at 10am featuring Dr Sadeeka Jayasinghe, who will present the findings of her recent review on The Global Application of Regenerative Agriculture. She will cover topics including a proposed framework for evaluating profitability and risk of regenerative practices and a case study in the context of a mixed farming system in Australia. Rehydrate Your Farming Landscape Bootcamp - Carrolup - with the Mulloon InstituteRegenWA are partnering with the Mulloon Institute to bring you a 3 - day landscape rehydration bootcamp from 25 to 27 March 2024! Learn how to apply simple strategies to improve productivity, increase drought resilience and manage and repair salinity. Day 1 will introduce you to landscape rehydration in the context of saline land. Day 2 and 3 will deliver a skills-based course where you can learn how to implement restoration interventions on your property. REGENWA SUPPORTED EVENTSIn partnership with Lotterywest, RegenWA were pleased to award the Regenerative Agriculture Event small grants to numerous organisations across the state for the facilitation of events exploring regenerative agriculture with the aim of broadening the uptake of sustainable land management practices. We're pleased to share the following upcoming events from successful grant recipients. Landscape Rehydration Workshop with the Mulloon Institute - QuindanningPeel Harvey Catchment Council are delivering a workshop with the Mulloon Institute in Quindanning on 21 March 2024 from 9am - 12pm. Learn about what landscape rehydration is, how to implement it and learn of its benefits in this half day workshop with Mulloon Institute Landscape Planner, Lance Mudgway. Foliar Nitrogen and Nutrition Workshop with Joel Williams - PerenjoriNorthern Ag Region folk - this one is not to be missed! Yarra Yarra Catchment Management Group are holding a full day workshop in Perenjori on Wednesday 6 March, presented by Joel Williams of Integrated Soils. This event will cover nitrogen nutrition and foliar feeding to improve nitrogen use efficiency for broadacre farming. Plan your Farm Landscape with David Hardwick - KarridaleLower Blackwood Catchment LCDC are delivering a 4-day course with David Hardwick from Soil Land Food between May 16 - 21 2024. The course will explore how to plan and design a healthy, resilient and productive rural landscape for your farm business and will see you develop a whole of farm plan. NEWSRegenWA Chair and regenerative farmer, Stuart McAlpine recently attended COP28 held in Dubai, where he spoke from the perspective of a Western Australian regenerative farmer on topics including the role of government in enabling food systems transformations. Hear more from Stuart here. Soil was the focus of a recent workshop held in Bencubbin. Phil Mulvey from Ryzo guided participants to learn more about their soils whilst explaining the importance of the small water cycle and soil carbon in agricultural systems. OPPORTUNITIES & SUPPORTMore than 60 growers who implement a range of farming practices are needed from across Australia to assist in a GRDC research investment focusing on regenerative agriculture. My Climate View helps farmers understand what the future climate might mean for their location and is a part of the Future Drought Fund's investment into better climate information for the Australian Agriculture sector.
