NEWS UPDATE24 April 2026 Publishers noteWorld Boating Day is coming up on 23 May and, whether you are at the boat show or simply going about business as usual, it is a timely reminder that, as an industry, we all have a role to play in promoting the recreational boating lifestyle. Championing the cause locally is Luke McCaul, this year’s Official Australian Ambassador for World Boating Day. Luke says that “World Boating Day is a global invitation for marine businesses to open their doors and start new conversations with new people.” Internationally, there seems to be a “Day” for just about everything, all with the aim of creating awareness for a cause, an industry or a belief. This one, however, is ours, and like Luke, I would encourage businesses to think about what they might do to take part. It does not need to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes even a small gesture can help start a conversation, welcome someone new, or simply present boating in a positive light. If time is not on your side and you are unable to do anything directly, then at the very least keep the day in mind and look for opportunities to support those in the industry who have an activation going. Every little bit helps. In other news, there is more activity building around SCIBS. And, as always, if you have news to share, remember our newsroom is always open.
